Seagull Art Inspired by A Beautiful moment

During my Australian adventure in 2019, I captured some magical moments. I was solo backpacking along the East coast of Australia, trying to build a business, find work and figure out my life all at once. It was a lot, but it was a life-changing time! I got to appreciate nature and enjoy the little things it offers. I could be present in the moment and enjoy being alive the second I was living. It was pretty magical.

Now I'm home and have lived through a pandemic-induced travel drought for several years, and I crave the adventure and the stillness and peace I got from travel. But the pictures and videos I took whilst on those travels are a constant reminder of the fantastic experiences and a reminder to keep looking for those peaceful moments every day.

One of the pictures that remind me of those peaceful moments is one of the seagulls on a rock. The illustration is inspired by a picture I took on the Gold Coast. I had met ad spent a few fantastic days with another backpacker in Brisbane, and we stayed in touch. She moved and settled in the Gold Coast to look for work, and when I ventured down there, she took some time out of work to show me the area.

She showed me some amazing beaches and where she was staying. I was, unfortunately, staying in Surfers Paradise, which is party central, and I wasn't enjoying it. But getting out of the main stretch with my friend, I was able to see some of the more beautiful places in this area. After a long day of exploring, we sat on Coolangatta Beach to watch the sunset. For a short time, we sat and read our books, but it was hard to keep our eyes off the view, and we ended up quietly watching the surfers on the waves and the sun setting and highlighting the highrise buildings of Surfers Paradise in the distance.

These two gulls looked just as content sitting on a rock, watching the world go by as we were, so I captured the moment. After creating my Kefalonia print, I wanted to make it more like it, so I used my photograph from that evening to create this illustration. This, too, is available as a printable download from my online shop if you'd like it on your wall.
