Daily Art Challenge Week Seven Update
I’m starting to realise that each week I create a couple of pieces that I really like. I spend time on them, plan them out and end up with something I’m quite proud of. For the rest of the week I don’t feel like I have the time but force myself to create something quickly and it’s very hit or miss as to weather I like the outcome or not. As much as this daily art challenge is great and it’s forcing me to experiment with different mediums and try new things and develop my style. It’s not conducive to creating a body of really great work.
Day 37 - 21/08/22
This is a quick little sketch I created last night. A work in progress and probably something I’ll finish at some point. I love these cute little houses, but I’m torn because I know I have seen other illustrators drawing similar things.
Where do you draw the line between being inspired and replicating someone else’s style? It’s hard to scroll Instagram for inspiration and not let it heavily influence your work. Right now, I’m doing a little bit of mimicking the style of others to practice and see what style fits me and what I want to create, but I’m conscious I need to develop what I’m doing further to find a style that’s a little more unique to me.
Day 38 - 22/08/22
A random picture on Unsplash inspired the composition for this cute house piece.
Day 39 - 24/08/22
I tried something a little different today, completely off the top of my head. This is inspired by my memories of a walk around Bramber and along the River Adur. I really like this looser style of colouring the piece. It’s such a different look but still super cute 🥰
Day 40 - 25/08/22
A messy, colourful, abstract mixed media piece from today. Created using Ohuhu markers and oil pastels. I really needed 10 minutes to do fun, creative stuff today. It certainly makes me feel better when I get stuck into a piece 😊
Day 41 - 26/08/22
An oil pastel piece for today’s daily art. It looks cute but this was an ‘I don’t know what to draw’ rushed piece, so I don’t feel too proud of it.
Day 42 - 27/08/22
Cute house Ohuhu and oil pastel piece. I liked using Ohuhu markers for the base and then layering on the texture with oil pastels for this one.
